The earthquake in Türkiye, which measured 7.7 and 7.6 in magnitude caused major destruction in the provices of Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Malatya and Hatay. The death toll has reached more than 30 thousand people and has injured about 80 thousand people so far. Efforts have been undertaken to reach those trapped under the rubble in difficult seasonal conditions. There remains a critical shortage of transport in those affected area so we are trying to do our part to support the transport of relief goods to those in need.
We have launched a special Humanitarian Freight Exchange for this purpose, which is now accessible on the Trans.eu Platform.
With this action, we hope to be able to help NGOs and transport service providcers to speed up the delivery of crucial aid. While being in in close contact with NGOs that are approved by the Ministry of Transport in Türkyie, we have created special user accounts with access to specific groups where users can find verified carriers who are available and willing for handle freight assignments for relief goods and other forms of humanitarian aid. Here, government branches in Ankara, Istanbul and Kocaeli are able to publish transport requests to NGOs and transport companies within dedicated freight groups. The platform offers all the necessary features to quickly launch transport requests to a large number of hauliers, list the requests for the transport, set the parameters for cooperation while effectivly managing those freights from end to end.
We will keep closely monitoring the situation as it evolves and repsond to new needs that arise.
